Kick Start Your Paleo Kitchen!

It's easier than you think to restock your kitchen with paleo 'goods'.

One of the best things to do is check your local grocer's ads for special prices and deals!

Current Items you may have in your pantry:
  • Check all your canned goods for dates and ingredients.
  • If the date has passed TOSS IT.
  • If there are non paleo ingredients and you won't need it for baking or cooking for others, DONATE IT.
  • If it is something that's not paleo but you think you might need for whatever reason, move it to the very back and far reaching depths of the pantry. You'll forget it's in there and won't be tempted to use it unless you NEED IT.
  • Take other snacks, or items into work. Workplaces are a hunting ground for free food.
Current Items in your Refrigerator:
  • Butter and cheeses can be frozen for baking and entertaining. It is good to have these on hand since you can freeze them and save money on buying them in the future. Plus because they are frozen you'll be less likely to grab them and eat them.
  • Other goods you should toss, or give to friends/neighbors/starving co-workers.

 New things to pick up:

Eggs - Omega-3, Cage Free
Fruit - Here are our favorites:
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Pineapples
  • Peaches
  • Plums
  • Berries
  • Avacado

  • Sea Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • Dried Minced Onion
  • Oregano
  • Powdered Garlic
  • Powdered Ginger
  • Fresh Nutmeg
  • Any!!
Oils:
  • Olive Oil

Baking Items:
  • 85% Dark Chocolate Bar (also this is for emergencies.)

Again, these are just guidelines, but this is what I like to live off most days. It can be expensive to pick up grass finished meats all the time, so although we do our best, we sometimes revert to the extra lean 2 for $7 Jenny-O extra lean ground turkey, or the free range frozen chicken breasts from Trader Joe's.You can be as creative as you like with the Paleo lifestyle. It's completely up to you how you eat, because in the end you're the only one who will be affected by it. The stricter the better - you'll see better results within your body, your health and your general well being! Happy Shopping!

  1. FYI -- grassfed meats (versus grainfed meats) are lower in calories and have two to four times more omega 3s. They are also more sustainable and humane. You can order them online in bulk for less $$ and share the order with friends.
